For a while we were under the illusion that the Villa del Casale at Piazza Armerina was safe and that we could rejoice at the avoided danger.
We hoped that the long delay in respect of the scheduled start announced by the high commissioner Dr. Vittorio Sgarbi could derive from a rethink and a consideration about the opportunity of carrying out such destructive and expensive works.

But it was only a temporary illusion because the arrogance of the unscrupulous figures nowadays commissioned to wield the “conservation” on the valuable archaeological area does not see any obstacle and intends to accomplish their delinquent aim, defying the regulations and the laws about the preservation and the safeguard of the cultural heritage.

After a time of disappointment and discouragement the MONUMENTO-DOCUMENTO Association decided to react, using the essential opportunity offered by law that is to appeal to the State Prosecutor, who (we are certain) will guarantee us, exerting our statutory mandate, against those who make an attempt on the preservation and the genuineness of the Villa del Casale.
