Our friend Massimo introduces us to some aspects of the stark city of Trieste and its surroundings.

As Massimo himself warns us, the images we publish are only a small part of this beautiful area.

A bit of history:

It seems that the foundation of Trieste, the Roman Tergestum, was due to the Carni, a Celtic tribe.
It became a Roman colony during the imperial period.
After the fall of the Empire, it was subject to the Goths, then the Byzantines, followed by the Lombards and then again subject to the Byzantines.
At the beginning of the 13th century it came under the rule of Venice, and then under Austrian rule.
It was annexed to the Kingdom of Italy at the end of the First World War.
After World War II began the tragic disputes with Yugoslavia that ended in 1954.

With the Treaty of Osimo on 10 November 1975, a final agreement was reached between Italy and Yugoslavia about the territorial claims which made definitive the borders between Italy and the then Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
