Our friend Nadia brings us to the Cadore, not to the towering Dolomites, but among the grasses and the woods, with villages and views that you can meet walking along the lanes and the easy paths of the flat valley bottom of the Antelao.

Certainly it is like a mirage in this scorching summer 2015.

A short history:
The origins of Valle di Cadore are very ancient, testified by the Roman and pre-Roman finds today displayed at the Museo Archeologico della Magnifica Comunità in Pieve di Cadore.
Leaving the highway that split the village and entering the center, we can notice small palaces in Venetian style mixed with buildings in the traditional Cadore style, together with archeological remains as the “Via Romana” and the ruins of houses dating back to 1st – 2nd century AD.
Rising sheer on the Boite valley there is the most spectacular of the Valle churches, the eighteen-century Chiesa di San Martino, built over the ruins of a Roman fort.
