A few kilometers from Castelnuovo we reach Sasso Pisano.
Built on the top of a hill, it maintains its original aspect of medieval stronghold surrounded by walls.
Beyond the fascinating village there is the Antiquarium, a little museum showing the archeological finds of the nearby Etruscan-Roman baths of Bagnone.
The whole area presents geothermal phenomena: for example from a small washtub near the graveyard the water flows at a temperature of 158 °F.
Within easy reach, certainly deserving a visit, there are the Etruscan-Roman baths of Bagnone and the park of the Fumarole.
The baths of Bagnone, the only example of ancient Etruscan baths, date back to the 3rd century B.C. and were used, quite continuously, at least until the 3rd century A.D.
Conducted by the Soprintendenza archeologica of the Tuscany starting from 1985 the excavations by the “il Bagnone” farm unearthed very interesting but undervalued remains.
The Parco delle Fumarole, rich in several spectacular geothermal phenomena, is another extraordinary place to be visited in this area.

As we already said in the previous special the territory lacks a tourist vocation and so everything is badly marked out.
For the visit to the Antiquarium and the baths, you should address to the tiny tourist office at the exit of the village: a very kind girl will close the office and will come along with you to reach these places, otherwise you could get lost since they are not signposted.
