monumental complex St. Benedict abbey
(Priorato Fontanellato (PR) - Emilia Romagna)

Driving towards Parma many times I noticed with curiosity the road sign indicating the hamlet of Priorato along the Fontanellato bypass.

Finally I satisfied my curiosity with my great satisfaction.
Thanks to the kindness of the keeper I discovered and visited the restored part of the monumental complex of St. Benedict abbey.

The renovation works are not finished but what has been done so far deserves a diversion.

The renewal concerns most of all the church (that was unfit for use from 2002 and now is safe again) but other parts still hide their beauty (see photos 20 and 21).

And moreover, the excavation dig up the most ancient phases of the complex, some of them maybe dating back to Roman age.
