the magical Bariola crib - part 2 of 2
(Valli del Pasubio (VI) - Veneto)

Contrada Bariola is in the municipality of Valle del Pasubio, where the traditions of the Veneto region have remained intact since the 19th century.
Since 2012, thanks to the Associazione del Presepe di Bariola (Bariola Crib Association), every year from 24 December until January the contrada rediscovers characters, traditions and crafts, which have often been lost.

A bit of history:
The territory was probably colonized between the 12th and 13th centuries by German settlers.
It was administered by the vicariate of Schio from the mid-13th century, during the domination of the Veronese Della Scala family, until the 18th century.
Afterwards it passed successively to the Venetian Republic, to the French under Napoleon and to the Austrians.
At the end of the Third War of Independence, 1866, it passed to the Kingdom of Italy.
This territory was on the front line during the First World War and was the scene of bloody fighting and devastating destruction.
