the palaces of 'Rolli'
(Genova (GE)) – Liguria)

For those who are not from Genova, it would be good to explain what the “Rolli” are.
The “Rolli di Genova” or better “Rolli degli alloggiamenti pubblici di Genova” were a list of palaces and mansions of aristocrats.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Site nomination, the Ordine degli Avvocati of Genova and the Polo della Fotografia organized a photo exhibition on the “Palazzi dei Rolli”: a triptych of photo (interior – exterior – a detail) for each palace took by various authors.

A bit of history:
The Rolli were created since 1576 by the Senate of the Republic.
After the urban restructuring decided by Andrea Doria (Prince and Admiral) the Rolli were completed and became a clear evidence of the Golden Century of the city.
In July 2006 42 of the 114 palaces registered by the Rolli entered the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
