Pasubio World War I Memorial

Our friend Massimo reopens a sad page of history by taking us on a brief visit to the scene of bloody battles in the 15÷18 war.
The Pasubio mountain was one of the most important strategic points and therefore most bitterly contested between the Italian and Austrian troops.
The War Memorial and museum of the 1st Army are located on Bellavista Hill (~4003 ft above sea level).
In particular, the memorial was built so that its profile is visible from the Vicenza valley below.
However, it is not only the memories of the war that are to be seen, but also the suggestive views that can be admired.

About 20 minutes' drive away, worth mentioning is the start of the very interesting road of the 52 tunnels.

A brief history:
The imposing lighthouse-shaped building (35 m high), designed by Ferruccio Chemello and decorated by Tito Chini and Umberto Bellotto, was built between 1920 and 1926. It was inaugurated on 29 August 1926 in the presence of King Vittorio Emanuele III
