We came back to the Parco Giardino Sigurtà to admire again the splendid colors of "Tulipanomania" and to attend the conference on the showing of the season 2018.
Part of the conference was dedicated to the prize-giving of the artistic works selected by the family Sigurtà.
The awards were given to the land art creations "Per troppo amore" by Stefania Colusso and Elena Tezza, "Leggerezza" by Paula Martinut and Francesca Cenci and "Ceci n’est pas un miroir" by Florin Coronidi, Giulia Marchi and Martina Marchesini, students at the Nuova Accademia del Design of Verona; the works have been executed using mainly recycled materials of the park as wood, bamboo, branches and leaves.
Other awards were given to Matteo Fostinelli, Gaia Moreschi and Carlo Quaranta (see imagine n° 22), students at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Brescia, for their works representing the 40 years of the opening of the Parco Sigurtà.
At the end of the conference we returned to admire the colorful and amazing world of "Tulipanomania". |
A bit of history:
Since 1407 here there was a walled farmland with a little garden and in the nearby Gerolamo Nicolò Contarini built a villa.
Afterward the family Maffei acquired the estate and the poet Ippolito Pindemonte with his uncle, the Marquis Antonio Maffei, planned the English landscape garden. In the early ‘800 were built the neo-gothic temple (now called Hermitage), the Castelletto and the Grotta.
In 1836 the Maffei dynasty comes to an end and so the decay of the property began.
In 1941 the Milanese pharmaceutical businessman Carlo Sigurtà acquired the estate.
On the 19th March 1978 the park opened to public .
From 1978 the park continues to introduce innovations and to receive prestigious awards.
