Once again we are in the Matilda’s lands, charmed by the views and by the character of this woman forerunner of the today’s women.
In 11th century, when the woman was considered a lesser being, Matilda showed an extraordinary strength standing up to the potentates of the time.

Now we visit the castle of Canossa.
There are only ruins but their fascination and the beauty of the landscape (especially in clear days) are unforgettable.
Close to the ruins there is a little and perfectly kept museum with the local finds.
Maybe the excavations will be resumed.
