We conclude the visit to this splendid manor pointing out the particular beauty of the whole area.

A tip: go up to Velturno from Brixen, after the visit continue along the road that leads to Lazfons and then descend, skirting the Tinne stream, up to Chiusa; it is a bit long, but the landscape along the way is worth the effort.

A bit of history:
Built in the second half of the 16th century by the bishop Johann Thomas von Spaur.
Until secularization it remained under the Prince-Bishopric of Brixen as summer residence of the prince- bishops.
After secularization it passed first to the Austrian and then to the Bavarian government.
During one of its several transfers of ownership it was also used as a tavern by a innkeeper of Chiusa.
In 1822 Baron Anton von Goldegg purchased the property and began to improve its conditions.
In 1904 Anton’s son Hugo sold the manor to the Municipality of Bolzano.
The building was later inappropriately used as a kindergarten, a school, a telephone exchange and a theater.
In 1979 it passed to the South Tyrol (autonomous province of Bolzano)and between 1980 and 1983 it was restored and rearranged in a superb way, and today it is considered one of the most precious monument of South Tyrol.
