The Carrara marble, already known by Romans as “marmor lunensis” (Luni marble), is extracted from the pits of the Alpi Apuane and is worldwide famous Two notes: To have an overall view of the pits we suggest to go to Campo Cecina (above Carrara) or to drive along the road leading from Castelnuovo Garfagnana to the Versilia where, just after the Cipollaio tunnel, you will be merged in the marble whiteness.
