We had the privilege of visiting the Santa Monica university campus.

A bit of history:
The monastery of San Salvatore was founded in the 11th century at the behest of Duchess Maria Visconti and Pope Paul II.
Following a number of scandals in 1470 the rule was reformed from Benedictine to Augustinian, and the monastery was dedicated to Santa Monica from then on.
After a period of splendor, a slow decline began, until the Napoleonic edict of 1805 suppressed the monastic orders.
The monastery was then used as military barracks, taking the name Goito Barracks.
As has already happened in similar cases, the troops ruined various aspects of the monastery to adapt the buildings to their needs.
Between 1997 and 1998, the idea of its restoration took hold.
Thanks to the above-mentioned organizations, finally in 2017the restoration began.
