A few kilometers from Turin (about 13.8 ml) at the beginning of the Susa Valley we meet Avigliana, a real medieval jewel.
Starting from Conte Rosso square, dominated by the ruins of the castle built by the Lombard king Clefi (574 A.D.), you could walk along the paved streets surrounded by well-preserved Gothic houses (particularly the Porta Ferrata house-13th century) and the suggestive arcades.

Beyond the architectural appeals, Avigliana also shows natural beauties: the morainic lakes commonly called Lago Grande, maybe too much anthropizated, and the Lago Piccolo, which still preserves its natural features.
The lakes are surrounded by marshes, now a natural park, hosting several species of birds.
